Mike FramePlumper
French bike accessory magnate Zefal sadly and shamefully quit making the HPX frame pump, a rare top-notch bicycle accessory to come out of France. Because carbon frames don’t hold frame pumps. Topeak killed its MasterBlaster frame pump for the same reason. So we went to the maker of our Mike Plumpatire floor pump, and they still make one every bit as good, and we’re thrilled to have them.
Mike FramePlumper is mostly aluminum, and has the internal magic of the HPX pump—a spring that doesn’t fight you while pumping. Plus a fold-out T-handle, which you shouldn’t need, but it does make pumping easier when your hands are oily. The head works with both popular valves, and the instructions are clear, with only one typo (I/Grant wrote them, so, “to be expected.” Three sizes to fit all bikes. Most medium to big bikes can fit either the L or XL, depending on where you put it. Under the top tube, in front of the seat tube, or along the seat stay between the left rear dropout and the seat stray/seat tube joint, behind the left side of the seat tube between the seat tube/chain stay joint and the top tube/seat stay joint. See photos. Large size weighs about 8 ounces.
Compressed (shortest) and extended (longest) lengths:
M: 15.5 – 18 inches (39.5 - 45cm)
L: 18 – 20 inches (45 - 50cm)
XL: 19.5 – 21.5 inches (49-54.5cm)
