Fun, Comfortable, Useful, Safe, and Counter-culture

We make bikes for day riders and tourers, commuters and shoppers, trail riders and athletes, get-arounders and recreationalists, family riders and earth-savers.

We don’t make bikes for racers or weekend warriors, and we don’t use carbon, because it’s dangerous. We don’t make uncomfortable, short-lived, road bikes or mechanically overkilled mountain bikes. Our CrMo steel UNracing bikes are sleek, gorgeous, comfortable, efficient, safe, will last longer, and be safer every ride.

Mechanical, pedal-powered bicycles.

We recognize that motorized bikes solve problems pedal bikes can't, but we lack the brain-power and enthusiasm to design or make them. So we stick to our true and only love—pedal bikes. When it's a pedal bike you want, we've got good ones.

We know a lot about bicycles in general, but you don't have to. Call anytime and ask anybody here anything, and we'll do our best to answer it, even if it's not up our alley.

How do I get one?

Patience is key. We have twelve bike models, and not enough space or money to keep them all in stock at once. We cycle through the models and get containers full of bikes every month and a half. Generally, we presell them a month before they arrive here. Most often, getting the specific Rivendell you want means waiting for the next batch to come in.

The weekly newsletter is the best way to learn when a particular frame goes up for sale. Or call (800) 345-3918. We try to make the newsletters fun, and not too sales-y. If you don't want any more email than absolutely necessary, we understand and sympathize. Use the bike schedule linked below, and sign up for the newsletter two months before the frame you're interest in is scheduled to arrive. We warn you a few days before we put them up for sale.

    JUNE BLAHG, a shortie

That's a prototype of a future SILVER front derailer.       We all know that at some level it's petty and even mean-spirited to harp on appearances. It shouldn't...
