Roman's 54cm Roadini - Updated January 2024

87cm PBH / 76cm Saddle Height
Roman here again! I've been riding my Roadini through the fall and have been tweaking the build as I go. Motivated by the short days of winter, I added a front dynamo light/hub - it's reassuring to just start rolling and have the light pop on. I also just threw on these larger Ultradynamico tires and to see how the ride changes with maxed out rubber. It's too soon to say if I prefer the Roadini with fat or skinnier tires, but it is nice and cushy feeling.
I've included my previous thoughts from October '23 - they still hold true!
Will's Roadini had me wanting one for myself and I knew the time had come when I saw the tube sample for the Sergio Green. I've been slowly collecting the parts for this bike over the last several months and was quick to build mine up in my free time after they arrived.
The Shimagnolo x RapidRise shifting is smooth and I am really impressed with the downshifting (thanks RapidRise!). Another nice unintended "feature" is that on both brifters, the upshifts are on the paddles and downshifts on the thumb levers. I'm still enjoying the more "ergo" hand positions on the flats that the shifter cable routing creates - comfy!
Check out this old CX Mag article if you're curious to duplicate this 9 speed Shimagnolo setup (plus some other options too). Here's a fun video Ronnie made in praise of Shimagnolo as well -- it's worth-a-watch.
